If you have been regularly watching your favorite VOCALOID songs on youtube, you might have noticed that some of them went missing because a certain entity/group has been filing false copyright infringement complaints and causing many of her high ranking videos to be taken down.

Japanese fans have banded together and are coordinating a mass effort (e.g. 2channel “Save Miku” campaign) to contest such destructive and ridiculous takedowns. If your own video has been taken down due to a fake report, you can contest it through the counter-notification form.

I find it quite ridiculous thing is actually happening when Hatsune Miku is featured so prominently in the Google Chrome JP campaign. Wouldn’t Youtube who is also under Google already be familiar (or have some existing policy) with the content posted revolving around Hatsune Miku.

However it also highlights a more inherent problem that once the anti-piracy laws such as the SOPA bills are in place, many of our favorite content would be taken down indiscriminately and the internet might no longer be what it used to be.

Tommy Lee Jones is the face of Suntory’s Boss Coffee and he portrays this character called “Alien Jones,” an extraterrestrial who takes the form of a human being to check on the world of humans.

His latest assignment is a doctor on a island and manages to heal many patients. This is the second time people has called him “sensei” as Alien Jones took on the role of a school teacher last year.

The official AKB48 youtube channel has uploaded the official footage from the recent AKB48 & SKE48 Seijin no Hi Ceremony held at Kanda Shrine (神田明神) in Tokyo on 10 Jan 2012.

You’d definitely wouldn’t believe it until you’ve seen the youtube video for yourself. One of the Asahi TV programs has featured this interesting “little girl” who is actually a 22 year-old woman. Seems like she is getting the new nickname “legal loli (合法ロリ)” on some of the Japanese otaku sites.

“The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim” is probably one of the best game produced in 2011 and spawning the cool “I Took an Arrow in the Knee” internet meme.

Seems like everyone in Japan is captivated by space travel following the return of famous Japanese astronaut Furukawa Satoshi (古川 聡), and we have already seen the new CM where Softbank mascot Otosan heads out into space.

Not to be outdone, Suntory’s Alien Jones portrayed by Tommy Lee Jones is seen having an exciting outing in space as well and he even manages to drink a can of his trademark BOSS coffee.

Japan is the country with the most vending machine and you can virtually find them anywhere selling almost anything.

Here’s a look at the very futuristic next generation vending machine that makes use of a vertical, 65-inch, full HD transparent display and an intel processor that is able to allows anonymous face recognition, knowing whether the customers are male or female, or old or young.

Earlier last week, Google Chrome Japan released a really cool CM featuring virtual idol Hatsune Miku, and you could almost foresee that it was a matter of time before Hatsune Miku had her own official youtube channel.

Apart from showcasing official media and commercials featuring Hatsune Miku, the channel will also feature works by the many talented creators. Cryton Future Media has also shared plans to share a portion of the ad revenue with the creators.

With an official channel, I think Hatsune Miku will be able to reach out more to an international audience and hopefully more creators will be inspired to create lovely songs for her and the rest of the Vocaloids.
