Cinematoday has posted a more lengthy trailer for the upcoming tokusatsu movie Ultraman Saga (ウルトラマンサーガ). It features more of the starring cast in the show, including the AKB48 members who have been recruited as “Team U” as part of the Earth Defence Force in the movie.

I wonder whether Team U will be singing the theme song for this movie? Regardless, it looks really good and I’m looking forward to watching it. ^^

It was announced yesterday that AKB48 members would be featured in the upcoming Ultraman Saga movie. One of the Japanese variety shows has a short feature on the movie with some sneak peek of the girls in action as the Earth Defence Force in the movie. It is said that the members performed their own stunts in the movie.

I must say that Sayaka Akimoto looks really good in the show. Really forward to seeing the movie though it probably wouldn’t be shown here in Singapore.

Earlier this week, we saw the really cool Ultraman Saga Movie Trailer. Today, it was announced that seven members from popular Japanese idol group AKB48 will be casted as Team U, part of the Earth Defence Force, in the movie.

The respective role of each member is posted on the official site, where Akimoto Sayaka will be the captain of the team, while Umeda Ayaka will be lieutenant.

Another good reason why everyone should look forward to Ultraman Saga that will be premiering in Japan on 24 Mar 2012.

Ultra Saga (ウルトラマンサーガ) is the latest tokusatsu film to celebrate the 45th anniversary of the Ultraman franchise. The movie is set to open in Japanese theatres on 24 Mar 2012.

The film will feature Ultraman Zero, Ultraman Dyna, and Ultraman Cosmos as well as the five Ultra Brothers facing a new ultimate threat, Hyper Zetton (ハイパーゼットン).

In addition, it also features a really cool new Ultraman known as Ultraman Saga (ウルトラマンサーガ). He looks so darn cool like a real badass Ultraman. Looking forward to seeing the show. ^^

Lost Heroes (ロストヒーローズ) is probably an RPG game that could appeal to a wide population of otaku because it features the awesome combination of Gundam, Ultraman and Kamen Rider, and they are all in SD (Super Deformed) style!!

According to Andriasang, the game is supposedly a revival of the classic Compatible Hero/Konpachi Hero series. Even though the gameplay graphics looks kinda dated, its still rather cool because how often do you see three classic otaku elements being featured in the same game. Then I was thinking that if the developers had replaced Gundam with Super Sentai heroes, then it would become an awesome trio of tokusatsu heroes game.

Back in July, we saw Ultraman making his first cameo appearance in the Softbank White Family commercials to promote the their Ultra Wifi service. It was for a brief moment but quite exciting for tokusatsu fans like myself.

Looking at the specs offered, I’m quite suprised that their Ultra Wifi service actually allows a download speed of 42Mbps at quite a reasonable price. Someone needs to tell Ultraman to come down to Singapore and introduce this service as well.

Actually Ultraman appearance was sorta used as a pun for their Ultra Wifi service.

While the rest of the world are sending in condolences to Japan for the disastrous earthquake and tsunami, some media such as the Malaysian newspaper Berita Harian decided to poke fun of the event with a distasteful comic of Ultraman running away from an oncoming tsunami that was published on Sunday.

Apart from slamming my neighboring country, I’m not very proud of my own country as well. Our local media company MediaCorp started soliciting for advertisers soon after the 8.9 magnitude earthquake struck Japan. According to the email that MediaCorp sent, the cost of a 30-second TV commercial was $5,000. I’m so angry at these insensitive people and I don’t see what the point of them apologising afterwards.

Then again, I would love to be Godzilla and unleash my atomic breath on innocent folks in scampering about in Tokyo (and probably trample some while I destroy the skyscrapers) XD
