Get Ready For Another Gundam Project Announcement Soon

Despite having announced the new Gundam AGE series, Sunrise and Bandai seemed to have kept something up their sleeves as a banner was revealed on the Bandai Channel that another new project is currently in the works and will be unveiled on 25 Jun 2011.

Its difficult to guess at the moment whether it will be a new series, OVA or even another new line of gunpla. I wonder if the news will be leaked ahead just like what happened last Thursday.

Gundam Age Officially Unveiled

Anime Studio Sunrise has officially unveiled the much talked about new Gundam Series – Mobile Suit Gundam AGE that is scheduled to premier in Japan in Oct 2011.

This series will be co-produced together with gaming company Level-5, and it was further revealed that an RPG game is in the works as well. The president of Level 5, Hino Akihiro will be supervising the story for the series.

The storyline seems rather interesting because it will be set in a new timeline (Advanced Generation Year 115) and will involve three different generations of Gundam pilot fighting to protect earth in a 100-year war from an unknown enemy.

The new series will be set in a new timeline with three main characters piloting the Gundam AGE-1 each at a time fighting against an unknown attacking enemy to defend Earth in a “One Hundred Year War” — an apparent homage to the One Year War of the first Gundam series. The series is set in A.G (Advanced Generation) Year 115. The Gundam is equipped with the “AGE system” that allows it to evolve with time from the normal form to the SPARROW form and the final TITUS form.

Keanu Reeves Still Keen on Filming Live-Action Cowboy Bebop

Its been more than a year since we last heard any news about the live-action movie adaptation of Cowboy Bebop, and its seems like Keanu Reeves is still intent on being Spike Spiegel.

During an interview with MTV News, the actor shared that he is still “knocking on that door, but it has not opened”. The main obstacle that stands between him realising the movie is a potentially high budget (half a billion dollars) that was revealed back in Sep 2009 when the draft script was completed.

Code Geass GAIDEN: Boukoku no Akito Trailer

Remember two weeks back I reported that there was a new Code Geass project titled 「Code Geass GAIDEN: Boukoku no Akito」, and the announcement trailer came in the form of a trailer that was included in the the 「Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion Kiseki no Birthday」 stage event Blu-ray disc.

Well some kind folks have uploaded the trailer onto youtube. So catch it while its still available online.

「Code Geass GAIDEN: Boukoku no Akito」 New Series Confirmed

Last December, a new Code Geass project was announced and now we have confirmation that it is a new anime titled 「Code Geass GAIDEN: Boukoku no Akito」「コードギアス GAIDEN 亡国のアキト」.

The announcement came in the form of a trailer that was included in the the 「Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion Kiseki no Birthday」 stage event Blu-ray disc.

Gundam 00 Movie Titled: A Wakening of the Trailblazer

Sunrise Studio has announced on their official website thatthe upcoming Mobile Suit Gundam 00 film will be titled “A Wakening of the Trailblazer” 「劇場版機動戦士ガンダム00 -A wakening of the Trailblazer-」.

In addition, it was announced that advance sales of the movie tickets will start 27 Mar 2010, and fans who purchase the tickets will get one of the two card-sized stickers. Type A sticker will feature Setsuna together with a new mystery character while Type B sticker features Setsuna’s new 00 QAN[T] mobile suit.

The film is scheduled for release in Japan in Sep 2010, and is a continuation of the story following season 2 of the anime series.

Too bad we don’t get to see the RX-0 Unicorn Gundam in action yet.

Gundam Unicorn To Premier In Hong Kong

Sunrise Studio has announced that it will premier the anime series Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn on 6 Feb 2010 in Hong Kong. The premier screening will feature director Kazuhiro Furuhashi, Harutoshi Fukui (the author of the original Gundam Unicorn novels), and Hong Kong celebrity Ekin Cheng.

The first episode of the series will also be show for a limited two weeks period in theatres located in Tokyo, Osaka, Nagoya, Fukuoka, and Sapporo on February 20. On the same day, Sony Computer Entertainment will begin distributing the anime on its online PlayStation Store for PS3 and PSP consoles in Japan.

Bandai has also partnered Amazon JP to exclusively distribute the first Japanese/English Blu-ray volume of Gundam Unicorn for two months starting on March 12. The first of six DVD volumes will ship on the same day with Japanese dubbing as well as Japanese and English subtitles.

There is so much hype to this release that I’m hoping the anime series will live up to its expectation. But since its a Gundam franchise, I’m sure it would be good ^^

Keanu Reeves: Live-Action Cowboy Bebop Script Being Rewritten

Its been quite a while since we heard anything on the live-action Cowboy Bebop movie starring Keanu Reeves. In the latest update, the star of the movie Keanu Reeves revealed that progress is slow because the script for the movie is now being re-written.

During a press event for The Private Lives of Pippa Lee film, he said:

There’s a draft of the script, but the writer did such a great job [that] in order to make the movie, you would need half a billion dollars.

So obviously its not possible for the studio and they are doing a rewrite. Reeves had added that the producers are “just trying to pull it back” in scope, and “the only challenge was to make a satisfying western narrative.”

I think its a good decision to rewrite the script and scale it down. I’m sure the studio wouldn’t want to spend half a billion and realise that they have made a terrible adaption that no one want to watch. But having said that, I’m really looking forward to this movie!!
