The entire incident started when a sixteen-year-old school girl that axed her father, and subsequently authorities believed that she was influenced by manga. Hence when it was time to air the final episode, various TV stations had replaced the episode with a 30 minutes long clip of scenery and classical music to avoid linking the violent anime series back to the murder.

Someone then posted onto 4chan an image of a M/S Skagastøl, a Norwegian Fjord1 ferry and wrote the phrase “Nice Boat” next to it and it brought about a massive spread of “Nice Boat” comments on the Nico Nico Douga videos containing the scenery footage. By this time, the term “Nice Boat” had become an internet meme and was one of the highly searched keywords.

The phrase was so popular amongst otaku that 0verflow decided to name its booth “Nice boat” for the Comiket 73 in December 2007, selling “Nice boat” merchandise along with its normal line of specialty items. In addition, Kadokawa Shoten also parodied ‘Nice Boat’ with a short video posted on YouTube on February 13, 2009, when the first episode of The Melancholy of Haruhi-chan Suzumiya was originally planned to premiere.

Two classic examples of Yandere characters are Katsura Kotonoha (School Days) and Ryuugu Rena (Higurahi no Naku Koro Ni), where you can see love transforming into obsession and then manifesting into destructive violence.

Yandere characters usually starts off being kind, caring and affectionate towards their love ones but soon that turns into an unhealthy obsession where they somehow lose their sense of logic. Eventually they will take things to the extremes of killing her beloved one so to prevent him from loving someone else and killing off her competition as well.

Definitely not someone you would want to be dating even though yandere characters are really cute and sexy.

Would who have thought such innocent faces would commit such scary acts of violence. The makers of the game and this show must be aiming at shocking its audience.
Basically there are 3 major events that might disturb:

1. Sekai stabbing Makoto (shock factor 2/5)

2. Kotonoha opens Sekai up to check if she’s pregnant (shock factor 4/5)

3. Kotonoha out on her yacht by herself, holding Makoto’s severed head in her arms
(shock factor 3.5/5) NICE BOAT after all

So what do you people think about the ending. Did it surprise you? I guessed that the large amount of censorship kinda dimmed the action significantly.

Actually I kinda expected that the animators would pull out a stunt like that. I wasn’t so affected since I gotten the bloody saw bad ending in my first run through of the eroge, which really made me speechless then.

Well I hope there would be no insane copycat killer going around cutting up their boyfriends or love rival up to see if they are pregnant or not. Moral of the story: be faithful to just one partner.

I wonder why can’t they just give us a happy ending instead.

So hopefully by then there will be no more copycat crazy axe-wielding angst teens trying to chop their sleeping father.

Anyway, yesterday I reported about the evil market tactics that Overflow was trying to use for their special preview screening event. They have updated their website and now states thats anyone that owns a copy of the game “regardless of whether it has been opened or not” can attend the event. Aren’t they quick to change their requirements. (“\(o.o)/”)

HOWEVER, there’s a catch to this special screening event by Overflow, the developers of the eroge School Days. They required an “unopened package” of the School Days or Summer Days PC Game for admission. Which they will then open it for you. (I feel that its a really evil marketing strategy)

For those that would rather wait for the DVD containing the final episode. You’d would have to wait till 2008 February 27th.

Television Kanagawa officials said that the last episode of the anime shows a schoolgirl acting violently. To tone down the scene, the victim’s blood was made black instead of red, but after the killing in Kyoto on Tuesday, officials decided to cancel the episode.

For those that are interested in what was broadcasted. Someone has uploaded the video that replaced the schedule school days screening.

Well if you have played the game like me, you would know that the bad endings are really violent. And just for you curious people, I actually happened to get that “The Bloody Conclusion” ending in my first run through of the game!! It was definitely a shocking experience since no one would expect that in an eroge.

In response, TV Kanagawa replaced the final episode, which was known to contain similarly violent material, with half an hour of scenery and classical music to avoid association with the murder.

Well looks like the only way to watch that episode is to wait until the DVD is released.
