Pepsi Japan has amazed us with many weird flavors (e.g. Pepsi Baobab and Red Bean Pepsi). For this summer, they are introducing the new Pepsi Dry and their selling point – its a cola that is not sweet.

If you want to drink “non-sweet cola” just add some water to it, I’m sure it would taste quite the same and you can save your money. LOL

Pepsi Nex Christmas CM Featuring Hikaru Utada

Hikaru Utada is featured in the new Pepsi Nex Christmas CM, where she is singing a nice christmas ballad while standing beside a giant Pepsi Nex bottle.

She is singing “Can’t Wait ‘Til Christmas” that can be found on her compilation album “Utada Hikaru Single Collection Vol. 2″ that was just released last month.

Its a pity that she would be going on hiatus soon for a couple of years. I hope she will get to do all the things she wanted to do and then come back fully recharged to sing more wonderful songs.

Pepsi Nex CM Features Hikaru Utada Singing In French

Hikaru Utada is featured in the latest Pepsi Nex commercial and she sings a popular french song Hymne à l’amour.

I thought it was really fun to see the gigantic Pepsi bottles playing instruments and dancing in the background.

Pepsi Mont Blanc

Pepsi Japan is back with its exotic cocktail of soft drink. This time it has announced a new Mont Blanc flavor but it doesn’t have any association with the luxury brand.

The favor of the drink is said to contain a hint of French chestnuts, even though I have no idea what are those. Pepsi Mont Blanc will be available in Oct 2010 and will retail for 140 yen.

I think I will stick to the highly carbonated Pepsi Strong Shot with its warning label.

Pepsi Strong Shot: Wait 15 Seconds After Opening

Pepsi Japan has new product that contains more caffeine to provide that extra kick but it has this very interesting yellow warning label on the top of the can.

At a closer look, we can see that it states that drink is highly carbonated. It advises customers to wait 15 seconds after opening before proceeding to consume its contents.

Pepsi Baobab

Pepsi Japan just never knows when to give up on its exotic cocktails of soft drinks. After seeing Pepsi Shiso and Red Bean Pepsi, they are now back with Pepsi Baobab!

Before changing upon the article on Gigazine, I had never known what or who was a “Baobab”. So I wiki-ed it and found out that it is a tree that is native to Madagascar (having six species), mainland Africa and Australia (one species in each).

According to the official press release, Pepsi Baobab has a refreshing spicy flavor that is inspired by the baobab fruit.

While I doubt the drink would taste good, I really like the Africa-inspired design on the bottle label. Anyway, Pepsi Baobab is scheduled to go on sale on 25 May 2010, and will be retailing for 140 yen.

Pepsi Nex CM Featuring Kobukuro, L’arc en Ciel and Kumi Koda

Pepsi Japan has release a new series of commercials for their Pepsi Nex featuring artists Kobukuro, L’arc en Ciel and Kumi Koda.

In the commercials, Kobukuro plays “Layla” by Derek and the Dominos, L’arc en Ciel jams to “I Love Rock n’ Roll”, while Koda performs Cheryl Lynn’s “Got To Be Real”. I think my favorite ad has gotta be the one my L’arc en Ciel. Its really cool to see them jamming their music amongst giant bottles of Pepsi.

Red Bean Pepsi

During the summer season, Pepsi Japan introduced the minty Pepsi Shiso. Now its autumn season, and the leaves are turning red, so Pepsi has introduced the new Azuki [アズキ] Pepsi.

According to Japan Probe, this new pepsi flavor is expected to be released on 20 Oct 2009.

Pepsi Shiso

I’ve featured many weird tasting kit-kat on this blog. To wash all of them down, you would need a equally weird tasting beverage – Pepsi Shiso.

Shiso is actually Perilla, a kind of herb mint. The shiso pepsi will be release in Japanese convenience stores 23 June and will be available for a limited time this summer.
