Ohashi Nozomi to Retire from Entertainment Industry

News has been floating around that the adorable twelve-year-old talent Ohashi Nozomi (大橋のぞみ) will be retiring from the entertainment scene as she prepares to enter junior high school. However, this piece of news is still unconfirmed because her talent agency has not made any official statement in response to the media questioning.

Ohashi is well-known for singing the theme song to the popular Studio Ghibli movie “Ponyo On The Cliff”, and she had hosted and performed the annual Kouhaku Uta Gassen.

Some would probably compare her to the now very popular child talent Ashida Mana who has been starring in various movies and commercials. While Ashida is only 7 years old, there are concerns that she will find it hard to cope with her busy schedule and elementary school.

Nozomi Ohashi [大橋のぞみ] is quite the busy little girl nowadays appearing in many advertising after singing the popular popular theme song for Hayao Miyazaki’s animated film “Ponyo on the Cliff by the Sea”. The last we saw her, she was singing and dancing with potato chips, and now she is enjoying herself with some Mario action on the Nintendo Wii.

Nozomi Ohashi is the talented young Japanese girl that sang the popular theme song for Hayao Miyazaki’s animated film “Ponyo on the Cliff by the Sea”. In this kawaii commercial by Calbee, we heard her singing in the background while animated potato chips engage in all sorts of fun activities and getting themselves all tasty to be eaten ^^

I’m pretty sure if she eats too much of those potato chips, her singing voice wouldn’t sound that good anymore ^^

Oricon: Celebrity Younger Sister

I’m sure that are many people out there who are like me that hopes for a cute little sister. So Oricon went out and polled 1000 men and women which Japanese celebrity they thought would make an ideal younger sister.

The results were pretty straightforward with Becky grabbing the top spot, followed by Yui Aragaki. The cute 9-year-old Nozomi Ohashi, who sang the theme song “Gake no Ue no Ponyo” managed to clinched the third spot.

I would love to have Nozomi Ohashi as a younger sister. That way she can sing me the Ponyo theme song everyday. But then I probably would soon get bored, so I would then go back to my cute Gakky.
