Taiko no Tatsujin Wii: Kettei-Ban CM Features AKB48

AKB48 members are featured in the new commercial promoting the upcoming Taiko no Tatsujin Wii: Kettei-Ban (太鼓の達人Wii 決定版).

The game is the fourth installment of the Taiko no Tatsujin game on the Nintendo Wii console and it is scheduled for release in Japan on 23 Nov 2011. Riding on the popularity of AKB48, Namco has include two of their hit songs “Everyday, Kachusha (EVERYDAY, カチューシャ)” and “Kaze wa Fuiteiru (風は吹いている)”.

Suddenly I feel like getting a Nintendo Wii just to play this game.

Just Dance Wii CM Features AKB48 “Heavy Rotation”

Just Dance Wii is Japanese edition of the Just Dance video game series for the Wii, and it will be released in Japan on 13 Oct 2011.

To cater to the Japanese audiences, developers have adjusted the song list to mainly JPOP songs. Riding on the immense popularity of idol group AKB48, the commercial uses their “Heavy Rotation” to promote the game.

Those who have played Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots probably might be familiar with gravure idol and talento Minami Akina (南明奈). But few know that she is actually a gaming otaku and her gaming collection (including gaming titles & consoles) totals at more than 1 million yen!!

Dragon Quest Anniversary Collection Trailer

To celebrate the 25th anniversary of the popular Dragon Quest franchise, Square Enix is releasing a Dragon Quest Anniversary Collection that compiles Dragon Quest 1, 2, and 3. The anniversary collection will be released on the Nintendo Wii on 15 Sep 2011.

Players can select to use either the Wii remote or the Wii classic controller to play the game. Here’s the trailer for the game:

How I wish they would release something like this for the English speaking fans as well. Anyway folks who get the first press of the Japanese version of the game will also receive a 130-page reprint of the Famicom Shinken strategy guides for DQ I/II/III, a real Mini Medal, and a collection of art accessible on the disc.

“Sengoku BASARA 3 Utage” Update Scheduled for PS3 & Wii

The latest issue of Famitsu has revealed details of an updated for Sengoku BASARA 3 that is coming this fall season.

The update is titled “Sengoku BASARA 3 Utage (戦国バサラ３宴)” and will be released for both the PS3 and Nintendo Wii. The update will include eight new generals and new modes for 2 players co-op.

Nintendo Confirms Wii Successor

Nintendo has official confirmed the Nintendo Wii’s successor. While the new console still doesn’t have a name, it will be officially revealed at this year’s E3 gaming expo in Los Angeles in Jun 2011, and event attendees will get to experience the playable version of the console.

Nintendo has scheduled to release the new console in 2012, and according to Kotaku:

This console, believed to be code-named “Project Cafe”, is rumoured to be a powerful console, boasting bigger and badder specifications than either the Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3. It’s also suspected of using a novel controller interface which marries a traditional d-pad-and-buttons scheme with a large touch-screen input.

Donkey Kong Country Returns CM Features Sakurai Sho & Matsumoto Jun

Donkey Kong Returns (ドンキーコングリターンズ) is an upcoming Nintendo Wii game that is set to be released in early Dec 2010. Arashi members Sakurai Sho and Matsumoto Jun get to try out this game in this promotional CM.

The both of them, especially Sakurai Sho seems really animated when playing the game.

In life There’s Hunters and Then There’s Monster Hunters!

The official youtube channel of Monster Hunter Tri has been keeping me entertained for the past few weeks with its funny viral commercials featuring Ironbeard McCullough and his trademark line “In life There’s Hunters and Then There’s Monster Hunters!”.

Here’s one of the latest commercial where he calls the king of the jungle to a pussy cat.

This series of three commercials are my favorite because loads up the head of Lagiacrus onto the back of his truck and shows it off to average folks. The last one is especially funny where he tries to cook the monster meat.
