MaiDreamin is a very interesting new meido cafe that just opened in Shibuya, Tokyo.

The concept is based on this unique surreal cyber-land that is somewhere in between 2D and 3D. The cafe is filled with things you can find in a 2D land including large cyber cubes, 2D art wall and meido-sans are expected to perform live songs and dance performances on the cyber stage.

Personally I still prefer the traditional meido cafe that is more homely so that it makes you feel more comfortable while having a tsundere meido to serve you XD

Uchimizu (打ち水) refers to the sprinkling of water in Japanese gardens and streets. It is more than a mere matter of hygiene and has, in temples and gardens, a ritual or contemplative purpose. In streets in summer, it serves to cool the immediate area, keep down dust and also please neighbors. Japanese people see uchimizu as being exemplifying national values as it combines utilitarian, aesthetic, courteous and dutiful ends.

Traditionally, this was done with a bucket and ladle, and the sprinkler would wear a yukata, or summer kimono.

Besides the kawaii meido-san, the first thing that catches your attention would be huge range of guns, rifles and submachine guns that are mounted on the walls and place on the tables.

They even have they guns in kawaii pink (probably for the ladies) XD

That is probably one meido café you wouldn’t want to be messing around too much. Otherwise they might just pull out a real gun and start shooting like Roberta.

Anyway, folks who had watch the anime series K-On! would be quite familiar with the use of the term Moe Moe Kyun:

The word “Kyun” (can be written as either キュン or きゅん) is actually a sound effect that is used to express the tightening of one’s chest cause by powerful warm feelings of love. It is usually expressed by girls in anime/manga series when they describe feelings of love. Of course, the word “Kyun” is also commonly found in moe-related songs and moe settings such as meido cafés.

One of the most interesting experience would be seeing how the meido use ketchup to draw on my “Full Moe Yaki”. Originally I thought the drawing would be done in the kitchen but instead she drew a cute kitten face right in front of me. Thanks to the movie function of the Canon IXUS 220 HS, I was able to capture the entire process down.

I thought it was rather creepy that she was peeling off the skin of the furby while it was still squirming and talking.

While I did managed to “inflitrate” the cafe, I didn’t take any shots of the girls together, but instead I got a few shots of them hard at work.

In total, there will be nine MMK meidos that help to sooth your tired souls during breaks at the AFAX event. The four meido at the top wearing white blazers will be the seniors (先輩) from last year’s MMK cafe, while the five meidos below wearing blue blazers are the juniors (後輩) that just joined this year.
