Bakuman Third Season Announced

Magazine scans has confirmed that the anime series about aspiring manga artists Bakuman (バクマン) will be getting a third season that is scheduled to air in the fall season of 2012. A great piece of news for fans of the series as the second season is just coming to a wrap next week.

Moeurs – Fashion Magazine Featuring 2D Moe Girls

Japan is one of the fashion capital in the world and you’d expect to see many different variety of fashion magazine targeted at different readers.

Gentosha Comics has released a new fashion magazine titled “Moeurs” that is catered to the otaku whom still enjoy fashion, where their featured models are not real human but cuter girls by illustrations than real girls. The book summarizes Japanese young girls’ fashion classifies all genres of them into 10 genres and explain their features in detail. At the same time not only their fashions but also their lifestyles are introduces.

The kawaii 2D girls in the magazine were drawn by popular mangakas and illustrators of light novels and even popular ones from pixiv.

I thought its a really interesting magazine and even though you might be a guy, it would still be useful to pick up the magazine and know what is the difference between the “Mori (Forest) Girl” style and the “Gyaru” style.

Results of “AKB48 YJ7 vs YM7: Jimbocho x Gokokuji Taisen”

After six months and five contests, the winner for the ”AKB48 YJ7 vs YM7: Jimbocho x Gokokuji Taisen” showdown has finally been decided and the results were announced through a special commercial.

In the end, the overall champion was Team YM7, consisting of Tomomi Kasai, Takajo Aki, Sashihara Rino, Miyazaki Miho, Komori Mika, Sato Sumire, and Takeuchi Miyu. Kasai is missing in the CM because she was recently diagnosed with peritonitis, and probably has not recovered yet.

For those that are unaware, Weekly Young Jump and Weekly Shonen Magazine each recruited a team of seven AKB48 members for a competitive project called “AKB48 YJ7 vs YM7: Jimbocho x Gokokuji Taisen.” Then the two rival teams competed against each other on different themed contest including which team was the most kawaii and which had the most unique talents, etc.

AKB48 member Kojima Haruna (小嶋陽菜) is featured in a lovely pictorial for the latest issue of Big Comic Spirits. I absolutely love the cover shot that she did for the magazine where she gets hold of a couple of old-school film cameras.

Not only does she looks good through the camera lens, it seems like she makes a gorgeous photographer too. The pictorial does include some of the photos that she actually took ^^

Shaman King Returns in New Manga Short

Jump X Magazine just announced an exciting news that the series will be returning with a 44 page short manga story! The story will be published in the next volume of the magazine to be released on 10 Nov 2011.

This will be a brand new story that tells a previously untold “zero story” about Asakura Yoh (麻倉葉). This “zero story” is the first part of a series of manga short stories that will be released on Jump X Magazine. Supposedly it will lead up to a “big project” that will be launched next Spring.

Shaman King was one of my favorite anime and manga series and it ended back in 2004. The series was so popular that Shueisha had started a kanzenban reprint of the entire series in 2008. I certainly do hope we will get to see all the favorite characters returning in the new manga short.

SDN48 “Black Lover” Weekly Playboy Scans

Last year, SDN48 (AKB48 more mature sister-group) did a very sexy pictorial for Weekly Playboy when making their debut with their first single “Gagaga”. This time round they are back with five members doing another lovely photoshoot wearing nothing but just a pair of very interesting black “hand prints”.

The group will be releasing their third single “MIN.MIN.MIN” (Type A & Type B) on 17 Aug 2011, and you can check out their PV here.
