How incredibly awesome it would be to witness all the super sentai heroes and kamen riders from their respective franchise appearing in a single movie.

Tokusatsu fans in Japan would be able to see this movie, tentatively titled “Super Hero Taisen (スーパーヒーロー大戦（仮）), and the movie will be released by Toei during the Golden Week holidays next year. This will be the first time that so many Super Sentai heroes and Kamen Riders co-star within the same movie.

There have been about 200 Super Sentai heroes from the original 1975-1977 Himitsu Sentai Goranger to next year’s Tokumei Sentai Gobusters. Likewise, there have been about 40 Kamen Riders from the first Kamen Rider series in 1971 to the ongoing Kamen Rider Fourze series.

I wonder how many Tokusatsu fans would be weeping manly tears as they watch the movie. All we need is for Ultraman to make a special appearance and that would be even more incredible XD

According to Andriasang, the game is supposedly a revival of the classic Compatible Hero/Konpachi Hero series. Even though the gameplay graphics looks kinda dated, its still rather cool because how often do you see three classic otaku elements being featured in the same game. Then I was thinking that if the developers had replaced Gundam with Super Sentai heroes, then it would become an awesome trio of tokusatsu heroes game.

Last week, we finally saw the face of the new Kamen Rider Fouze, who is the next rider in the Kamen Rider 40th series scheduled to premier on 4 Sep 2011. A press conference was held yesterday to unveil Kamen Rider Fouze to the press and talk more about where he is actually from and what are some of his powers.

Kamen Rider Fourze is the 13th Heisei period Kamen Rider and the story revolves around “Gentaro Kisaragi” a new transfer student at Amanogawa Academy who wants to become friends with everyone on the first day of school and creates a “Kamen Rider” club. Kamen Rider Fourze can insert different “Astro Switches” into the Fourze Driver to affect his legs and arms. The switches represents the following: Right arm – Rocket, Right leg – Launcher, Left arm – Radar, and Left leg – Drill.

Here’s an introduction of the various character profile in the show, extracted from JEFusion:

Gentaro Kisaragi (Fukushi Sota): The main character of the series, second year. He recently transferred to Amanogawa Academy. He’s a bad boy rocking a short pompadour hairstyle. He declares that he will become friends with everyone in the school. He meets Kengo Utahoshi, as if it was destined for them to meet. Gentaro receives the Fourze Driver and starts the Kamen Rider club in school. He seems to be an idiotic character.

Kengo Utahosh (Takahashi Ryuki): The main character’s partner, second year. A young man who had the mysterious switches. He’s a key person to the whole story. His locker seems to be distorting space and he’s somehow able to reach the moon base, “Rabbit Hatch” through the locker. He’s also able to pull out the super bike “Machine Masshigura”. He might be physically weak, but he has strong heart full of will.

Yuuki Joujima (Fumika Shimizu): The heroine of the story, second year. She’s Gentaro’s childhood friend. She’s a bright and cheerful high school student, she refers herself as a “space nerd”. She usually heads over to JAXA after school. JAXA is like some space thing in Japan. She’s the only one that Kengo can actually trust, Kengo shared his secret about his special locker to her.

Miu Kazashiro (Rikako Sakata): Third year. She’s somewhat the queen of the school as she is a cheerleader. She’s the daughter of a rich family. Ever since she was born, she was always treated like the queen bee. No matter where she goes in school, her two sidekicks will always follow her. She’s a beautiful girl with pride.

Jun Daimonji (Justin Tominori): Third year. The captain of the American Football team. There’s a hierarchy going on in Amanogawa Academy, with sports-oriented guys on the top. They are usually bullies (referred as jocks). Jun is standing on the absolute top.

Tomoko Nozama (Shiho): First year. She’s the goth girl with black make up under her eyes. She always brings her Tablet PC with her and has a weird laughter. She seems to fixate and obsess over various things, but the details are unknown.

JK or Jake (Shion Tsuchiya): First year. Jake is the information provider of the school. He easily detects danger and is a coward who always runs away.

Sarina Sonoda (Yuka Konan): Gentaro’s homeroom teacher and the teacher of classical literature. She’s young and beautiful, every student loves her. Although, she has trouble with Gentaro and Kengo.

Chuuta Oosugi (Takushi Tanaka): The geography teacher. He’s a middle-aged man with bad looks and personality. No one seems to like him. He seems to be trying to get it with Sonoda, but it just won’t happen.

The man with red eyes (Shingo Tsurumi): A mysterious man who caused some incident and has the “Zodiarts Switches” He seems to have a connection with the school, but he’s a complete mystery.

Henshin 変身, literally translated as to change or transform the body, is a very common phrase seen in both anime/manga series and tokusatsu series as well. The henshin sequence usually takes place during the climax ending of the show where the protagonists are in trouble and have to activate their magical abilities or transformation devices to help them achieve a more powerful state to defeat their enemies.

In anime/manga series, the most common type of henshin/transformation that you would see would be associated with magical shoujou (e.g. Sailor Moon, Cardcaptor Sakura, Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha, etc). During their henshin sequence, the girls would usually be in a state of undress but their bodies would be obscured by a magical glow. They will then be given a much kawaii outfit that will magically appear on their bodies.

Here’s a clip featuring the usual Nanoha henshin sequence and the outrageous henshin sequence of Panty & Stocking:

Henshin sequences in tokusatsu series (e.g. Kamen Rider and Super Sentai) are usually much more masculine and cooler because the protagonist are mainly male. They also usually have a catchphrase that they would need to recite, but in the case of Kamen Riders, it is usually just simply shouting out the words “Henshin!”.

Here’s one of my most favorite transformation sequence of Kamen Rider Black RX & Kamen Rider Black:

I had previously talked about the Kamen Rider statue that is located in Ishinomaki city a couple of years back. Its hard to imagine that now everything surround the Kamen Rider statue is all in ruins and shambles.
