Looks like Google is really trying very hard to break into Japan market. Not only have they started collaborating with real life idols AKB48, it seems they want to include 2D virtual idols as well XD

Today is a very special day for AKB48 fans because it the 6th anniversary since the idol group first debut performance in Akihabara with just 7 fans in their theatre.

Usually during the anniversary, important announcement would be made such as member graduation or the unveiling of members from the new generations. However, one of the most important announcement made today happened to be tie in with internet search giant Google. Members of AKB48 and their respective sister groups (SKE48, NMB48 and HKT48) would be reaching out to fans all around the world via the social networking service Google+.

So apart from accessing contents via Youtube, you can connect with your favorite individual members via the “AKB48 Now on Google+” page.

Source: ModelPress

Even though Google+ has started for a while and I do have my own account, I didn’t use it as frequently simply because it didn’t seemed that popular amongst my friends compared to Facebook. With the sudden rush by AKB48 fans to sign up for a Google+ account just to connect with their favorite idols, I forsee this collaboration is really beneficial to Google extending their social media reach in Japan.

What would you do if you find an embarrassing photo of you being posted online? A woman in Fukuoka prefecture is suing Google for causing psychological distress after discovering that a search for her address brought up a photo of her underwear hanging out on her veranda.

The woman, who is in her 20s, filed suit against Google at the Fukuoka District Court for 600,000 yen in consolation money and other payments.

Opening arguments were held on Dec. 15. The woman said, “I was overwhelmed with anxiety that I might be the target of a sex crime. It caused me to lose my job, and I moved my residence.” Google said that it is hurrying to confirm the facts of the case.

According to the suit and other sources, the woman discovered the photograph in spring of this year when she used Google to do a search for the address of her Fukuoka apartment, where she lived alone.

The suit says the woman already had a form of obsessive compulsive disorder before seeing the photograph, and after seeing it her symptoms worsened. She began worrying that her activities were being secretly photographed throughout the day. She was fired from the hospital where she worked, and moved to a new residence.

After the court session, the woman told the Mainichi that around October, the month in which she filed the lawsuit, the image no longer came up when searching for the address in Google.

“I could understand if it was just a picture of the outside of the apartment, but showing a person’s underwear hanging outside is absolutely wrong,” said the woman.

Source: Mainichi Japan

I think its probably a weak case against Google and she should be suing the pervert that uploaded the photo of her online in the first place. If she was accidentally captured on Google Street View then that would be another matter altogether.

I particular loved how you there is an insert coin tab next to the “Google Search” button. The other cool part of the Google Pacman Logo is that it is not using flash – only Javascript, HTML and CSS. So its playable even on my iPhone which is just simply awesome ^^
