GoodSmile Company is continuing their Cheerful Japan project with Nendoroid Tachikoma and it comes along with a set of pom-poms and a charity banner. Of course, it’s a good chance for you to contribute to the Japan relief effort where 1,500 yen will be donated for each sale. Preorder will commence on the GSC official store on 10 Feb 2012 and it will be priced at 4,000 yen and is scheduled for delivery in Jun 2012.

New Awa Odori Promo Poster Feature Tons of Anime & Game Characters

Tokushima City’s Awa Odori Festival has become a must-go for anime otaku ever since they introduced the Kara no Kyoukai promo posters in 2009, followed by the Touhou Project & Kara no Kyoukai posters in 2010. This year the committee has decided to inject more variety by inserting tons of anime/game characters into their posters.

Personally I prefer the earlier Kara no Kyoukai versions since ufotable managed to capture the feel of the matsuri. This new poster is simply too cramped with anime/game characters that I don’t even know its a promotional poster for the festival anymore.

Anyway, so how many notable characters did you managed to spot in the poster? Do list them out in the comments section ^^

Alphamax has announced preorder for this lovely coldcast figure of Kusanagi Motoko from Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex 2nd GIG. She comes armed with the SEBURO M-5 and HK-VP70.

She is scheduled for release in Aug 2011 and will be retailing for around 16,800 yen. Interested folks can place your preorders with Otacute, Hobby Search and HobbyLink Japan.

This is a really lovely figure too bad its priced above my budget.

Ever Wondered How Ghost in the Shell Looks in 3D?

Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex: Solid State Society is being converted into stereoscopic 3D and the official website has posted a 90 seconds long trailer in stereoscopic 3D @_@

The producers collaborated with the website YouTube to show the trailer in five different stereoscopic 3D options (red/cyan, green/magenta, blue/yellow, interleaved rows, columns or checkerboard, side by side).

The March and April issues of Kodansha’s Monthly Young Magazine includes Ghost in the Shell Stereoscopic 3D Glasses on Wednesday and March 9, respectively, although the anime’s website suggests some online instructions for making your own glasses.

Ghost in the Shell Live-Action 3D! By Spielberg

Deamworks has announced that they have secured the rights to adapt Ghost in the Shell into a 3D live-action movie.

Apparently, the deciding factor which led to Dreamworks gaining the rights was Steven Spielberg personal interest and enthusiasm in this project and he made sure it ended up with him. It is said that GITS is one of his favorite story.

The adaptation will be written by Jamie Moss, screenwritter for Street Kings. Ex-Marvel CEO Avi Arad and Steven Paul will be co-producing this project.

Since I’m a big fan of Mamoru Oshii works, I would like to see how Dreamwork can match up to the high benchmark that is already in place by the 2 anime movies.

My guess is that Dreamwork will be using this film to rival Warner Brothers adaptation of Akira. And I’m hoping at least one of them don’t turn out to be total Hollywood crap.
