Just when everyone was eagerly hoping for Sega to unveil their Valkyria Chronicles 3 teaser at the Tokyo Game Show, Famitsu magazine have provide confirmation that the game will be developed for the PSP console, dashing any hopes that we will see the game appearing on our PS3 console anytime soon. The game is scheduled to be release on 27 Jan 2011.

The new sequel will be titled “Valkyria Chronicles 3: Unrecorded Chronicles” and while it is still set in 1935′s Europe with the setting in war-torn Gallia, it will feature a brand new storyline and cast.

The story is centered on Gallian Army squad 422, also known as the Nameless. This group, consisting of criminals, deserters and other baddies, gets its name because its members are referred to by number rather than name.

The game’s hero is Number 7, real name Kurt Irving (voiced by Yuichi Nakamura). He was once a brilliant officer with a great future, but an incident which goes unexplained in the magazine caused him to fall to Nameless status. He’s hoping to fight well and return to his former battalion.

On the heroine side is Number 01, Imuka (voiced by Masumi Asano), the ace of the Nameless force. Her village was wiped out by the Valkyria. She went off in search of the culprits and was rescued by the Nameless. As you might expect, compared to other members of the squad, she’s the quiet type.

The other heroine is Number 13, Riela Marcellis (voiced by Aya Endo). Reila is a descendent of the Valkyria, but she and those around her do not realize this. When her entire squad was killed off, she alone survived and was deemed a “god of death” and expelled to the Nameless.

Producer Shinji Motoyama was also asked “Why did Sega decide to go with PSP for the part 3″?

The team wanted to develop the series on PSP beyond what they managed for the first game

A PS3 sequel requires more revolutionary ideas than just gameplay updates

In an era where everyone is busy, PSP was the best console to make Valkyria Chronicles more popular

Do check out Andriasang if you want to read more about the gameplay specifics and what to expect at the Tokyo Game Show for Sega’s Valkyria Chronicles 3 booth.

While the producer’s reasons are valid, I’m still disappointed that the game is not being released on the PS3 instead. The tiny screen of the PSP is just not satisfying enough for me in terms of gaming.

Of course, the otaku folks are always quick to catch these mistakes and the photo is now all over the internet. Love Plus + is supposedly a TBC sequel to Konami’s dating simulation game Love Plus. Since BlazBlue: Continuum Shift was release in the Japanese arcade in 2009, the only reason why it would be feature would be that it is being ported onto the consoles.

Actually I didn’t really care, but I do like the cover since it features Nana-chan!! ^^

Square Enix finally release Final Fantasy XIII in Japan last Thursday on 17 Dec 2009. So how was the sales performance in its first weekend? According to famitsu, more than 1.5 million copies of the PS3 game and nearly 250,000 PS3 console was sold in one weekend (17 Dec 2009- 20 Dec 2009).

Specifically, 1,516,532 copies of the game was sold, while 24,5406 PS3 consoles were sold within the opening week. I think this is one of the best sales figure for the PS3.

We are less than 10 days away from the official Japanese launch of Final Fantasy XIII on the PS3. Authoritative gaming magazine Famitsu has given their review of the game and it turns out that FFXIII obtain 39/40 and missed the perfect score!

As you can see in the magazine scan above, there were four reviewers of the game and Famitsu had FFXIII for having excellent in-game cut scenes and the new battle system. However one of the reviewer mentioned that until the mid-way point of the game, the story seemed be linear and didn’t have any twists in the story, which is why he awarded a 9/10.

Regardless of what one guy says, this game is definitely one of the most anticipated game on my list. For info, there were four games that obtained perfect score on Famitsu: Dragon Quest IX, Monster Hunter 3, Bayonetta and New Super Mario Bros.
