We have seen the promotional poster and cast photos for the upcoming Ranma ½ 2 hour live-action drama starring Aragaki Yui, which would be aired on Japan’s NTV on 9 Dec 2011.

Now here’s the trailer for the live-action drama, giving us a glimpse of what to expect from the show.

Here’s the very first trailer uploaded onto youtube for the upcoming Live-Action Ouran High School Host Club Movie that is being planned for release on 17 Mar 2012, staring the same main cast of the drama series.

The trailer features a quick glimpse of AKB48 member Shinoda Mariko whom guest starring in the movie, taking on the role of “Michelle” spoiled daughter from a wealthy family.

A special promotional poster was unveiled for the upcoming Ranma ½ Live-Action Drama. The top part features the various live-action cast members, while the bottom half features the original manga characters illustrated by the original mangaka Rumiko Takahashi. From the poster, we can also see the panda form of Genma Saotome, Ranma’s father. But then again I think the panda is kinda too think unlike the manga version.

Last month ,we heard news about the Ranma ½ being adapted into a 2 hour live-action drama starring Aragaki Yui, which would be aired on Japan’s NTV in Dec 2011.

NTV has just unveiled the drama cast photos and it was surprising that Aragaki Yui had actually cut her long hair for the role as Tendo Akane (天道 あかね). Apparently it was Aragaki’s decision to cut her hair so that she would be able to fit the role better. But I think she looks really kawaii and moe with short hair.

Below are the photos of the other cast, including Kento Kaku and Natsuna playing the role of Saotome Ranma (早乙女 乱馬), Hasegawa Kyoko as Tendo Kasumi, Namase Katsuhisa as Tendo Soun, Tanihara Shosuke as Ono Tofu, and Furuta Arata as Saotome Genma.

In a surprising announcement today, AKb48 member Shinoda Mariko will be making a special guest appearance in the movie, taking on the role of “Michelle” spoiled daughter from a wealthy family. To make it more interesting, her character is set as half-Singaporean and half-Japanese, which means that she has to speak English in some scenes.

Mariko-sama, as her fans call her, usually sports short hair in AKB48, but for her role in the movie she has to put on long hair extensions, which makes her seem much more girly and mature.

Really looking forward to catching the movie because I’m really curious how she would portrays her role as a “half-Singaporean”. She probably needs to speak Singlish instead of perfect colloquial English just to have that extra oomph as a Singaporean. Then again, rich folks in Singapore don’t speak Singlish anyway lol

Ranma ½ is an interesting anime/manga series created by Rumiko Takahashi, and I still remember watching the hilarious scenes of Ranma turning into a girl whenever he gets splashed with cold water. This coming December, the series will be adapted into a two hours live-action drama special and it will be shown on Japan’s NTV network.

The show will star popular Japanese actress Aragaki Yui as Tendo Akane (天道 あかね), the female protagonist of the series. Meanwhile, Kento Kaku and Natsuna (Gantz) will be playing the dual male and female role of Saotome Ranma (早乙女 乱馬), who is Akane’s fiancee.

Other casts include: Hasegawa Kyoko as Tendo Kasumi, Namase Katsuhisa as Tendo Soun, Tanihara Shosuke as Ono Tofu, and Furuta Arata as Saotome Genma.

Yuusuke Yamamoto plays the role of the Host Club president Tamaki Suou and while Haruna Kawaguchi acts out the role of Haruhi Fujioka. Other staff members include Yusuke, Daito Shunsuke,Ryusei Ryo, Chiba Yudai, Nakamura Masaya, Takagi Shinpei, and Takagi Manpei.

In the re-imagined live-action version, Nagi is being played by Korean actress Shin-Hye Park, while Hayate is being played by George Hu.

I’m rather dissapointed that Nagi doesn’t look that similar to the original character design with her kawaii twin-tail, but Maria-san does look kinda hot though. XD

In the story, high school freshman Haruhi pretends to be a boy so that she can take part in the wealthy school’s Host Club, to which she owes a large debt. The manga was launched in LaLa in Aug 2003, and ended in Japan last Sep.

Seems like more and more anime/manga series are being adapted into live-action series. I think its a good move especially if the storyline is good as in the case of Ouran.
