To celebrate the 25th anniversary of Dragon Quest, Family Mart convenience stores had been selling yummy Blue Slimes Meatbuns.

Inside-games reports that within a short period of 1 week, over 1 million of these meatbun had been shipping! Fans who had yet to try them should really act fast while stock lasts because they are not producing anymore of them.

They don’t really look that appetizing to me because I never associated any food had turned blue as being edible. Maybe you could still hear their tiny screams as you tear the meatbuns apart XD

How I wish they would release something like this for the English speaking fans as well. Anyway folks who get the first press of the Japanese version of the game will also receive a 130-page reprint of the Famicom Shinken strategy guides for DQ I/II/III, a real Mini Medal, and a collection of art accessible on the disc.

The game’s Chance Encounter mode, which enables players to share game data when they bump into each other in real life, even when not playing the game. As stated on the certificate, it has been used 117,577,073 times as of 4 March 2010!

Its weird to think that even such a feature can be recorded into the Guinness World Records. Maybe someday I will attempt a record myself such as the “most number of Nendoroid photos taken” or something ^^

This is the first time I heared any RPG game implement such a system. That would make it even more difficult when choosing options at a major checkpoint of the story or choosing a particular class for the hero. >_<

Btw the real release date for Dragon Quest IX is in July. So folks, don’t panic and head to your game store yet. =P

I pity the poor 2000 folks who stood outside in the cold. It would be really “funny” if they started a riot and burned down Softmap for this prank. But still I’m puzzled why these people still fell for it considering this wasn’t the first time such a prank was pulled.
