Toyota x Doraemon CM Features Maeda Atsuko as Jaiko

Toyota continue their interesting series of commercial that parodies how characters in Doraemon would behave when they grew up into adults. In the latest CM, Maeda Atsuko is guest starring as Jaiko Gian, the younger sister of the bully Gian.

For those unfamiliar with the story of Doraemon, Jaiko Goda is the younger sister of Gian, and would be the future wife of Nobita Nobi if Doraemon wouldn’t help him. Now that Jaiko is so hot, I think Nobita would definitely prefer her over Shizuka. ^^

Earlier we saw a series of interesting commericals by Toyota that predicted how characters in Doraemon would behave when they grew up into adults.

Here’s a new CM where Doraemon (Jean Reno) pulls out the famous “anywhere door (どこでもドア)” from his pouch and brings Nobita to the beach.

Personally, I thought the ”Anywhere Door” and “Bamboo-copter” are definitely cooler form of transportation than driving. LOL

When Characters in Doraemon Grow Up

Toyota has started showing an interesting series of commercial that portray what happens when the key characters in Doraemon grows up into adults.

I’m so disappointed in Nobita. He still remains such a wimp and gets bullied by Gian.

Robot Damashii Doraemon & S.H. Figuarts Nobi Nobita

Bandai has announced preorder for the figure of the Doraemon and Nobi Nobita, the pair of buddies from the classic anime and manga series Doraemon (ドラえもん). Interestingly, Nobita is produced under the S.H. Figuarts franchise, while Doraemon is produced under the Robot Damashii franchise.

They are both scheduled for release in Sep 2011, and will be retailing for around 3,500 yen each. Interested folks can placed your preorder with Hobby Search [Doraemon, Nobita], HobbyLink Japan [Doraemon, Nobita], or Otacute.

Doraemon iPhone Apps

I was randomly browsing figure.fm when I came across this interesting post shared by one of our readers Otaqueen.

Its about these 16 unique iPhone apps which were released by Yahoo! JP. The applications included Doraemon manga, battery utilities, calculator, clock, calendar, scissors-paper-stone mini-game and many other cool stuffs.

Of course, when you combine all of them together, you form a kawaii image of Doraemon on your iPhone, which makes it looks really cool!

Apparently, you can download them from this link, but it doesn’t seem to work for me >_<

It would be cool if all the anime studios took inspiration from this and started creating their own apps.

Anime & Tokusatsu Baby Outfits

One can never be to young to start becoming an otaku, and Bandai is set to release some really cute infant clothings based on anime and tokusatsu themes.

Top left to right: Devilman, Dorami, Doraemon, Ultra Seven, Ultraman
Bottom left to righ: Sun Goku, Shocker, Kamen Rider, Red and Pink ranger from Himitsu Sentai Goranger

There are a total of 10 designs and they come in two different sizes: 70cm and 80cm. These infant clothings are scheduled for release in late Feb 2010 and will retail for 1,029 yen each.

They are so cute that I would get some for my son (if I had one). But if I had a daughter, I would dress her up as a chibi meido every weekend. LOL

JAL Unveils Doraemon Jet

Last month, I shared with you folks that JAL will be having an interesting Doraemon marketing campaign whereby a Boeing 777-300 will be decorated with large colorful images of Doraemon characters. Now the plane is finally unveiled.

Actually I doubt Doraemon doesn’t need to travel by plane since he can go almost anywhere with the Dokodemo door (どこでもドア).

Can Doraemon Solve JAL Financial Woes?

Folks who read the news would know that JAL is having financial troubles again. Apart from seeking help from the Japanese government again, its also having a joint marketing campaign with Doraemon and Japanese folks who travel on domestic routes might have the chance to ride with Doraemon and his friends.

This marketing campaign is for the upcoming Doraemon movie “Nobita’s Great Battle of the Mermaid King” 「のび太の人魚大海戦」, which will be screened in Japan on 6 Mar 2010.

The Doraemon plan will be a Boeing 777-300 decorated with large colorful images of Doraemon characters. It is limited to domestic routes (mainly between Tokyo Haneda, Sapporo, Itami, Nagoya, Fukuoka and Okinawa) and the plane will take flight beginning in mid-February.

Personally, I don’t really bother what is on the outside or inside of the plane as long as it gets me to my destination. They ought to hire more pretty stewardess and maybe have a meido-theme plane instead. ^^

I had only flown on Singapore Airlines so have no experience with Japanese airlines. Anyone care to share their experience on JAL?

Oricon: 2009 Most Interesting Dorama

Its the end of the year and I’m sure many Japanese dorama fans would be looking back thinking which were the most interesting drama they ahd watched this year. Oricon conducted a survey with 1000 men and women and “Kyumei Byoto 24 Ji” [救命病棟24時] managed to top the charts.
