Sony’s PS Vita is set to launch on 17 Dec 2011 in Japan and retailers are starting to take orders today.

This is the scene outside Yodobashi-Akiba where over 1,200 gamers have lined up outside by 7am this morning. According to staff, customers have started queuing as early as 10pm last evening.

While it is possible to place your preorders online, many sites were filled with preorders and stopped taking anymore within 20 minutes.

So how many of you had already placed your preorder for the first batch? I’d probably wait until one of the gaming companies release a limited edition bundle before I pick up the PS Vita.

The console is slated for release between Apr-Dec 2012, and will have a unique 6.2-inch touchscreen controller that serves as a second display. The controller also has both motion-sensor capabilities and works in conjunction with existing Wii controllers.

‘The new controller for Wii U, with its 6.2-inch (15.7-centimeter) screen built in, means you won’t need to give up your gameplay when someone else comes in the room and wants to watch a TV program.’

Currently there is no news of how much the new console will cost but its looking really innovative and I’m sure it will pick up more followers in the weeks to come.

Nintendo has scheduled to release the new console in 2012, and according to Kotaku:

This console, believed to be code-named “Project Cafe”, is rumoured to be a powerful console, boasting bigger and badder specifications than either the Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3. It’s also suspected of using a novel controller interface which marries a traditional d-pad-and-buttons scheme with a large touch-screen input.

My favorite game of all time is probably Super Mario Bros since it was the first game that I played and it was such a great experience that it had set me down as a gamer for life.

In short, the NGP will feature an impressive 5 inch OLED screen that has 4 times the resolution of the current PSP; touch panel on the front and back, dual analog sticks, live area communication, find friends using the “Near” app, a new game medium based on flash cards, rear and back cameras, and three motion sensors.

After today, I’m pretty sure what I want for Christmas. Now I wonder if Santa would be working overtime to deliver this awesome baby.

Upcoming 3D titles include Resident Evil: Revelations, Super Street Fighter IV 3D Edition,Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater 3D, Dead or Alive: Dimensions, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Mario Kart, Mega Man Legends 3 and many more.

Of course, the hottest title announced has gotta be from Konami because LovePlus will be ported for Nintendo 3DS as well. So who can’t wait to see their virtual girlfriends in 3D ^^

I never knew that the Xbox360 has existed for 5 years already (launched in 2005). Its actually quite an impressive figure but still far off from the 140 million record set by the PS2.

As Canned Dog had mentioned, the sales figure could have been attributed to online stores such as Amazon, which would probably explain the empty queues for the launch event at Yodobashi Camera in Akihabara.

The person probably backed out on the last minute.

While the collection is still being display at Mandarake Complex, the “For Sale” sign has been taken off already.
