There are so many theme parks dedicated to popular Japanese pop icons and not one of theme is for Mobile Suit Gundam. Soon all that will change with the opening of a new Gundam theme park in Japan opening on 19 Apr 2012.

“Gundam Front Tokyo” is a small theme park that will open in Odaiba, located near the life-size Gundam statue that has been re-erected. There will be a free exhibition area that includes display of Gunpla and a shop for you to purchase them. In addition, there will be a paid area where visitors would need to pay a small fee to enter and see cool Gundam exhibits that are put on display.

Folks who have caught the comedic anime series Kill Me Baby (キルミーベイベー) would be familiar with the dance moves done by Sonya and Yasuna during the ending theme.

The dance moves are actually mapped and bundled together as the bonus on the first volume of the manga and some otaku has taken the time out to recreate the dance moves using his favorite gunpla from Gundam Age.

All we need is for someone to really spend some time and show a timelapse video of the gunpla performing the dance moves

Iiwake Maybe (言い訳Maybe) was the 13th single by Japanese idol group AKB48 and it’s one of my most favorite song till now. A group of Gundam modelers (RRM) were so inspired by AKB48 who came to their earthquake devasted hometown in Fukushima to perform that they decided to mod Nobel Gundams and recreate the special single cover.

If you look carefully at each of the Gundam mod, you can see that they have put in much effort so that their unique styles can be easily identified.

Great news for Gundam fans because the life-size Gundam statue will be returning to Odaiba next year. Construction has already began and is scheduled for completion in Spring 2012. The statue will then be on display until 2013.

The life-size Gundam statue was originally constructed back in Jul 2009 in Odaiba, Tokyo to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Gundam franchise. It was then taken apart and brought over to Shizuoka for exhibition until it got damaged in the earthquake. Then the dismantled parts was recently displayed in Tokyo again.

Our dear photographer friend DARWINFISH105 has taken a lovely timelapse video of the ongoing construction project ^^

According to Andriasang, the game is supposedly a revival of the classic Compatible Hero/Konpachi Hero series. Even though the gameplay graphics looks kinda dated, its still rather cool because how often do you see three classic otaku elements being featured in the same game. Then I was thinking that if the developers had replaced Gundam with Super Sentai heroes, then it would become an awesome trio of tokusatsu heroes game.

Yesterday, I talked about the Life-Size Gundam Statue that had been dismembered and displayed in pieces at Odaiba, Tokyo. Many of us oversea Gundam fans will probably not get a chance to see it in person and the next best thing would be to watch DARWINFISH105′s timelapse video of the fans gathering around and interacting with the pieces on display.

Seems like many folks were very much interesting in taking photos of the Gundam head. It just doesn’t look as majestic when the head is separated from the body ^^

Its been quite a while since the Life-size Gundam RX-78 was assembled and exhibited in Odaiba’s Shiokaze Park for Gundam 30th anniversary. The organisers know that fans still want to catch a glimpse of the 1:1 scale gundam so they have brought back the parts and put it on display.

The organisers are charging 500 yen for folks to enter the exhibition area and you can interact with the different parts of the Gundam statue. Its quite sad to see the Gundam statue in this form. Feel like it just got some serious butt-whooping from a Zaku. lol
