The annual Singapore Toy, Game and Comic Convention (STGCC) will be returning for another fun-filled weekend at the the Sands Expo and Convention Center in Marina Bay Sands from 31 Aug – 01 Sep 2013, and there are a couple of exciting guests to look out for.
First up would be the talented illustrator Redjuice, is well-known for the character designs behind the anime series Guilty Crown, and is a member of the music group supercell. In pixiv, he goes by the name Shiru (しる). He started drawing 11 years ago (2001), on a oekaki board (which he continued). After 6 years of drawing, he started his debut as an illustrator when he was 32 years old. He then joined supercell under Miwa Shirow’s recommendation.
Joining Redjuice from Japan would be DJ kz (livetune), one of the most famous DJ’s in Japan right now. He is popular for infusing Vocaloid tunes into the Japanese Dance and Clubbing music scene. Livetune originally consisted of two members, Kz and Kajuki P, but Kajuki P left the group back in March 2009. Since then, Kz has been keeping Livetune alive himself, creating new music from time to time, to finally reach the #1 place on the Japanese iTunes charts (#4 place on the Oricon charts) with the release of the song “Tell Your World”, which was used in a Google Chrome commercial. Tell Your World has been played over 4 million times on Youtube, and is so far the most recognized song made by Livetune.
Of course, a pop culture convention wouldn’t be complete without a guest cosplayer, and this year STGCC has invited Vampy Bit Me from the US. She has cosplayed quite a number of famous characters from the universe of DC Comics,Marvel Comics, anime and videogame. Fans will be delighted to know that Vampy will be donning brand new costumes at STGCC.
Another special surprise is TAM, who has performed many renditions of musical tunes from anime and game series and giving it his own take through his classical violin. It would be really interesting to see TAM performing his own special set list exclusively for STGCC. Above is one of my recent favorite – the OP for Shingeki no Kyojin.
