Today’s Japan Photo: Tempozan Ferris Wheel

Today's Japan Photo: Tempozan Ferris Wheel

Yesterday, we visited the Osaka Aquarium Kaiyukan 海遊館, one of the largest aquarium in the world. For Today’s Japan Photo, we will be visiting the nearby Tempozan Ferris Wheel. This is a beautiful capture of the ferris wheel with the surrounding cherry blossom.

Tempozan Ferris Wheel commenced operation on 12 Jul 1997, and it has a height of 112.5 meters and diameter of 100 meters. The ride offers a view of Osaka Bay and surrounding areas, such as Mount Ikoma to the east, Akashi Kaikyō Bridge to the west, Kansai International Airport to the south, and Rokko Mountains to the north.

The wheel has colored lights that provide a weather forecast for the next day. Orange lights indicate a sunny day, green lights a cloudy day and blue lights indicate rain.
