Summer 2013 is going to be a treat for anime fans because Studio Ghibli has announced 2 new anime movies that are being produced by the renowned cofounders Miyazaki Hayao (Spirited Away, Ponyo on the Cliff, and Princess Mononoke, etc) and Takahata Isao (Grave of the Fireflies, Kiki’s Delivery Service, and Pom Poko, etc).
First we take a look at Miyazaki’s “Kaze Tachinu (風立ちぬ The Wind Rises)”. The movie tells the story of Mitsubishi A6M Zero fighter designer Jiro Horikoshi. Miyazaki started writing the manga back in 2009, and the manga was published in two issues of the Model Graphix magazine on 25 Feb and 25 Mar 2009.
Its been quite a while since we seen a new work from Takahata Isao. His new movie is titled “Kaguya-Hime no Monogatari (かぐや姫の物語)”, which is a retelling of the Japanese folktale, where the moon princess was discovered as a baby inside the stalk of a glowing bamboo plant.
So which movie are you looking more forward to? I’m definitely gonna catch both when they get released XD
