Production I.G collaborated with director Masaaki Yuasa for a kickstarter anime project titled “Kick-Heart”, and the project has now reached its funding goal of US$150,000 for a 10-minute short.
With 3 more days, the project has set a new stretch target. The project will add Spanish subtitles if $175,000 is raised, and an English voice-over dub if $200,000 is raised. Reaching the $225,000 milestone will add an animated music video, 3 to 5 minutes long, of Oorutaichi directed by Yuasa.
Its a great milestone for anime production if funds can be donated by fans. It would be interesting if other studios would explore more ambitious project using Kickstarter as well.
