Today’s Japan Photo: Kintai Bridge 錦帯橋

For Today’s Japan Photo, we will be visiting on of the national treasures of Japan – a historical historical wooden arch bridge called “Kintai Bridge 錦帯橋 ” that is found in the city of Iwakuni, in Yamaguchi Prefecture.

The bridge was built in 1673, spanning the beautiful Nishiki River in a series of five wooden arches, and the bridge is located on the foot of Mt.Yokoyama, at the top of which lies Iwakuni Castle. It is particularly popular with tourists during the Cherry Blossom festival in the spring and the autumn color change of the Japanese Maples.
