Today’s Japan Photo: Himeji Castle 姫路城

For Today’s Japan Photo, we visit Himeji Castle (姫路城) in Hyougo, one of the most visited castle in Japan and definitely one that you should visit on your next trip to Japan.

It is the best preserved castle because Himeji Castle was never destroyed in wars, earthquakes or fires and survives in its original form.

This castle was registered as the first Japanese National Cultural Treasure by UNESCO World Heritage Site and a Japanese National Cultural Treasure in December, 1993. Along with Matsumoto Castle and Kumamoto Castle, it is one of Japan’s “Three Famous Castles”.
