Evangelion Ayanami Rei Slide

Many of us are probably too old to ride on the slide at the neighbourhood playground, but there would be one slide that I’m sure many otaku would want to try even if it means being embarrased in public.

This 18.5 meters long slide that accompanies the gigantic statue of Ayanami Rei from Evangelion is being constructed in Shiodome Tokyo and soon fans can take the slide between 25 Jul till 26 Aug. Fans would brave the slide would be given a special certificate as well.

    I’m trying to imagine why they came up with this idea, other than just gratuitous promotion. What’s next? Children’s textbooks with the EVA characters? Themed school lunches? I’m trying to actually think of any object that has not been subject to being merchandised by GAINAX for EVA and I’m having a really difficult time thinking of one!

      They will never stop until the whole world has watched Evangelion at least thrice.
