Takara Tomy will be releasing an interesting an interesting international chess set that features the kawaii mahou shoujos from the anime series Puella Magi Madoka Magica (魔法少女まどか☆マギカ). The chess set will be released in April 2012 and will be retailing for around 3,000 yen.
The chess pieces are arranged as follows:
King – Madoka
Queen – Homura
Knight – Mami
Bishop – Sayaka
Rook – Kyoko
Kyubey – Pawn

Technically, you could just buy a couple of boxes of Nendoroid Puchi Madoka and then just get a chess board that is large enough to have your own Madoka chess set as well and they probably look more kawaii since Takara Tomy’s chess pieces doesn’t have legs.
