The official website of Anime Contents Expo has been updated with the official announcement that the event will be cancelled in the wake of last Friday’s earthquake and tsunami that devastated Japan.

The various factors cited by the organising committee were largely similar to those mentioned with regard to the cancellation of TAF 2011. The unpredictable  situation at the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station was also one of the main concerns of the organisers. The organisers will also be making refunds for those that have purchased the pre-sales tickets, and has listed several methods of obtaining refunds on its site.

I was in the midst of making plans to visit the event before the earthquake struck. Too bad my holiday plans are now cancelled.
