Today’s Japan Photo: Capsule Hotel カプセルホテル

For Today’s Japan Photo, we will be checking into a Capsule Hotel カプセルホテル in Akihabara. Capsule hotel is a unique type of hotel that originated in Japan and they are special because they have extremely small “rooms” (capsules) intended to provide cheap and basic overnight accommodation for guests not requiring the services offered by more conventional hotels.

The capsule is large enough for a person to sleep comfortably but it also contains other entertainment facilities as well, such as television and wireless internet connection. These capsules are stacked side by side and two units top to bottom, with steps providing access to the second level rooms. Luggage is stored in a locker.
