Today’s Japan Photo: Hirosaki Castle 弘前城

For Today’s Japan Photo, we will be visiting Hirosaki Castle 弘前城 in Hirosaki, Aomori Prefecture. The original Hirosaki Castle was completed in 1611 and was destroyed by a lightening in 1627. The three-story castle keep that you see below was reconstructed in 1810.

Hirosaki Castle 弘前城 is worth visiting because it is known for one of the best places to see cherry blossoms in Tohoku region. There are more than 2,600 cherry trees with 50 kinds in the area, and the blossoms make great spring scenes with the keep.
