Today’s Japan Photo: Earthquake Drill

The first day of September is the annual nationalwide disaster drill in Japan. For Today’s Japan Photo, we shall take a look at how elementary school kids carried out the drill.

If you are wondering what are these Tokyo elementary school kids doing with that funny hat, they are actually putting on their fireproof hood before they evacuated from their classroom during the annual nationwide disaster drill on September 1. The drill took place on the anniversary of a 1923 earthquake that devastated the Tokyo area.

I’m thankful that Singapore is not exposed to natural disasters like Earthquake or Typhoons. The only drills that we carry out are fire drills and people are usually strolling out instead of taking it seriously XD
