July is a special month in Kyoto because the Gion Festival 祇園祭 take the center stage and celebrations spans across the entire month. For Today’s Japan Photo, we shall take a look at the event highlight which is the Yamaboko Junkō (山鉾巡行) parade which takes place on 17 July.
This lovely shot was captured by Masahiro Makino, and you can see everyone is hard at work pulling the huge parade float. I really like this photo because it not only capture the motion of the parade but also the excitment and buzz as well.
