Today’s Japan Photo: Tamagoyaki 卵焼き
I’m a big fan of eggs, and I would have eggs for meals at least three times a week. For Today’s Japan photo, we will be taking a look at the Japanese omelette which is also called Tamagoyaki 卵焼き.
This shot of some yummy Tamagoyaki was taken and uploaded onto flickr by user hiroohi. Doesn’t just seeing the picture makes you feel hungry already?
And here’s some additional information on the Tamagoyaki 卵焼き:
Tamagoyaki is often served for Japanese-style breakfast. Also, it’s one of the most popular dishes in Japanese bento lunch boxes.
There are many types of tamagoyaki. Some are sweet and some are salty. Also, you can add fillings in tamagoyaki to make it colorful.
Tamagoyaki is usually cooked in a rectangular omelet pan. Rectangular omelet pans are commonly sold in Japan, but it might not be a common cookware in other countries. It’s OK to use a regular frying pan if a rectangular omelet pan is not available. In that case, shape rolled omelet into a rectangle, using a bamboo mat.

I like salty ones better, though I don’t mind the sweet Japanese variety as well. But damn our lunchboxes are so different =x
I crave for one now.
I get sandwiches in my lunchbox
Should bring a bento to school, it’ll shock people >.<
How could I resist not commenting. One of my top favs here in Japan.
