Today’s Japan Photo: Tokyo Rainbow Bridge レインボーブリッジ

For Today’s Japan Photo, we shall visit another beautiful landmark that lights up like a beautiful gem in the evening Tokyo – Rainbow Bridge [レインボーブリッジ].

Rainbow-Bridge TOKYO

This lovely photo was taken by flickr user Toshi_KMR. I really like this photo because not only it managed to capture the different colors of the bridge but also Tokyo Tower 東京タワー in the background (right of the photo).

Here’s a little more background info on Rainbow Bridge [レインボーブリッジ]:

Rainbow Bridge is a suspension bridge crossing northern Tokyo Bay between Shibaura Wharf and the Odaiba waterfront development in Minato ward, in Tokyo, Japan.

The towers supporting the bridge are white in color, designed to harmonize with the skyline of central Tokyo seen from Odaiba. There are lamps placed on the wires supporting the bridge, which are illuminated into three different colors, red, white and green every night using solar energy obtained during the day.The bridge can be accessed by foot from Tamachi Station (JR) or Shibaura-futō Station (Yurikamome) on the mainland side.

  1. You know I thought the name was because of it’s shape. I didn’t know it lit up with the colors of the rainbow too! XD

Man, I wish we had such bridges here in my country. Infrastructure here really needs to be upgraded.
