Namco Bandai Loses Money, Reduces Staff by 10%

Namco Bandai has announced that they recorded an estimated loss of 31 billion yen in the last fiscal year. In the previous fiscal year, it had a profit of 14 billion yen.

Apparently, Namco Bandai games division were underperforming and many of the games they produced did not managed to rake in the big bucks. Therefore, in orider to help cut losses, there will be “restructuring” and that means 630 staff will be axed, thus saving the company 8 billion yen.

Finally, Bandai plans to start a new company that will handle live entertainment in relation to their toys, games, videos, and music. Bandai Visual will provide 51% of this new company’s startup capital, and Sunrise will pay the rest. This business will start in April of this year with the tentative title of Bandai Namco Live.
