Time to take stock of how well my site has been performing in the new year of 2010. As mentioned in my New Year Resolution for 2010, I plan to cross the 300k/month by end of Dec 2010. Unfortunately, Jan recorded a slight drop in daily readership back to below the 6,000 daily unique visitor mark.

Of course, I’m not disheartened by this and I’m motivate to strive hard to provide more interesting and original content for my readers.
Which is the reason why I started a new section titled “Today’s Japan Photo“. Everyday I would go onto the vast internet and try to get one interesting photo to share with you, and take the opportunity to share some of Japan’s intersting cultural facts too. Today’s Japan Photo can be easily accessed via the scrolling carousel bar on the top right corner. I would love to hear some of your comments on this new content and how I can improve it further.

In addition, I’ve also created my first header image to feature my site mascot – Akari the kitsune. Those who had received my namecard might be familiar with him. But for those that are unfamiliar, Akari is a mascot that was designed and created by the talented site reader Maha. On the top header, you can see (from left to right) Akari in a traditional happi, reading some manga and enjoying snacks, enjoying cherry blossom view, and cosplaying as Phoenix Wright (I’ve gotta re-photoshop that photo again). I intend to do up an about page for Akari and probably invite readers to submit fan art of Akari in the near future.

Finally just a quick run through of the exact details for this month’s stats: Jan 2010 served just over 628,611 page views to an average of 5,373 unique daily users. The monthly unique users amounted to an accumulative total of 166,588.

Good luck with your goal, I enjoy comeing here reading the stuff, also keep going with todays Japan photo its a good idea.
Hi! my name’s Luis and I’m chief editor at http://www.astromono.com which I’m sure you’ve visited at least once. Alafista is one of our regular sources of information and I do feel like the content has improved since last November.
The addition of the daily Japan photo is most pleasant because it adds rich cultural value to your site content and while I read about the slight drop on your site stats I still believe your site is fairly successful and impressive in the amount of visits you get per day.
Just so you have an idea of what I believe to be valuable content in your site, I think that Alafista works as a funnel for most Japan news sources such as Japan Probe and even toy sites like Hobby Search. I think some of your value resides in being able to provide content that can be linked back to the source (here), so as long as you continue to post info about movies, video games and nendoroids, you know my team and I will continue to link back here.
I also believe that while you have an excellent outlet for news, some of it is rather just brief. Trailers for video games and such are good, but sometimes I wish I had your input or opinion on what you see. That, to me is worth reading the site for personal gain rather than just to find something useful I can post about. You do it often, but not as much as I (as a reader) would like.
Other than that I am certain that you will overpass the 300,000 mark by year end and I encourage you to keep providing awesome content as you have since I became a regular reader here.
Good day!
Thanks for your awesome feedback. ^^
lol, sure!
The daily Japan photos are really nice and interesting, I think it’s a nice addition to the site~
I’m a personal fan of your photos and I been enjoying your Japan photos too, its quite interesting to see something the way that someone sees them, keep at it, I’m sure your site will do a lot better as we advance through the year
You’ll get more readers soon! You post so much interesting articles that it’s impossible for your stats to not increase
