As we had seen over the past few days, many of the New Year activities in Japan revolves around visiting the local shrine. This in turn means that devotees will be donating losta money to the shrines as offerings in exchange for good luck.

For instance, a very popular shrine – Toka Ebisu Shrine [今宮戎神社] in Osaka, managed to attract more than 1 million people during the new year weekend 3 days break (9 Jan-11 Jan)and collected over 45 million yen of donations! Here’s a couple of shots of the workers they hired to count all the donations.

I’m quite curious to find out how much did Washinomiya Shrine managed to squeeze out of the Lucky Star fans. ^^

that was really a lot of money over there @_@
Imagine how it went, when the hensei era went underway in 1989
What I would do to get that kind of money…
Me too. I wonder if those counting the money managed to pocket some of it.
