Otaku New Year Celebrations in Akiba

Apart from queuing up for a game or console release, the only other time you would see an otaku leaving his house at night and heading to Akihabara would be New Year’s Eve. If you are wondering what kind of celebrations take place inside the meido cafe, then you are in for a treat with this very interesting news report which was uploaded onto youtube.

The crew visited two meido cafe for the coverage – Mia-cafe and Dear Stage. I must applaud the meido-san for working so hard to keep the otakus hyped up throughout the celebrations.

Before you watch the video, I should warn you about the scary Reimu that appears at the end of the clip. LOL

The part where they were all dancing with the orange light sticks was very interesting. But I think I’m too old for such hot-blooded celebrations ^_^”"

Wow..that one of a kind celebration..and I only stuck myself at home for New Year’s eve o_o This look fun :D

  2. I never really liked those kind of celebrations. Also, I prefer celebrating New Year’s Eve outside here in my country. The air literally smells of gunpowder with everyone going outside and lighting up fireworks; from those rockets that explode into pretty lights to dangerous ones as powerful as grenades (illegal BTW).

Used to enjoy this kind of gathering, but getting way to ancient and the crowd were getting to me (-__-). In the end stayed back home and enjoy a quiet one.

I think it’s rather interesting way to celebrate New Year. If I have a chance, I would definitely participate in Akiba New Year Celebration ^^!
