An employee at a supermarket in Nishi Ward noticed nine knives were missing from the displays just after closing on Saturday evening, and an employee at a different supermarket in the same Ward noticed 10 knives were missing shortly after opening on Sunday. A third supermarket in Nishi Ward and a supermarket in neighboring Tarumi Ward reported that 43 knives were missing on Sunday afternoon. All of the knives were in displays without locks, police said.
