Watching TV on Cellphones

Last week I asked whether you folks “watch anime while travelling?”, and it seems like a couple of you enjoy watching anime on your PSP. I previously used to watch anime on my iPod Touch as well, but I found that converting the anime to a compatible format is just too much of a hassle. Recently, I was introduced to a new service by Starhub called “Mobile on TV“, which allows me to watch some of my favorite cable channels while I’m travelling to and fro my office.

Apart from watching anime, one of my favorite must-watch TV is soccer, and this service allows me to watch live matches even while I’m away from my home. Here’s a couple of quick shots of one of the soccer match:

Of course, there are quite a number of channels available and some of the channels which I tune into are Football Channel, CNBC, CNN, Animax and the Disney Channel. There is always something interesting to keep me occupied on that 30-40 minutes of bus ride. The only dissapointment is that Animax for Mobile on TV is a loop channel which means what is being shown is not the latest shows being aired on Animax if I tuned into cable.

The nice thing about this service is that there are two basic options. Users can either sign up for a monthly subsription with a fee of approx $26 per month, or choose to just subscribe on a day-to-day basis at just $1.00 which allows unlimited access for 24 hours of unlimited access.

Today is a actually a good day to share the services with you folks because it is a Monday. They have this ongoing promotion whereby Mobile TV is free on Monday! Here’s how you can tune in if you are already a Starhub mobile phone subscriber:
