Have you ever been stopped by the police for an alcohol breath test? A 30 year old man saw that police officers were busy conducting random alcohol breath tests, but forgot left their police car running. So he took the opportunity to steal the police car!

Yasuki Mori, an unemployed resident of Sapporo, was arrested by the police for stealing a police wagon. The vehicle had been left unlocked and the engine left running to power the electric sign and other lighting set up to caution drivers to slow down for a possible breath test.

Police officers chase Mori with another police vehicle and managed to arrest him just five minutes later. Police later found out that Mori was driving under the influence of alcohol.

Mori’s reason for stealing the police car:

He had been drinking at a bar and that he didn’t want to walk all the way home, which was about 7 kilometers away.
