Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Conquers World Guinness Record

While I know that Yu-Gi-Oh! is a very popular franchise amongst kids in Japan, I did not expect it to be so immensely popular that it has sold more than 22 billion cards worldwide. Guinness World Records has just recognized Yu-Gi-Oh! as the best-selling trading card game to date with over 22,587,728,173 cards sold as of April 2009.

This piece of news was announced by Konami on Friday during the 7th annual Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game World Championship in Tokyo.

The only trading card game that I had play was Magic: The Gathering when I was still in my teens. It was an expensive hobby during then when I had to survive on bread and then use my weekly allowance to pay for the cards. Now that I think back, it was pretty dumb because I threw all of my collection away after I gotten bored.

I still have my Magic Deck somewhere at home! I heard that there are a bunch of new rules now and the gameplay is totally different!

At that time, I collected the cards because of the artwork.
