K-On! [Hokago Teatime] Top Oricon Charts

Just last month, we witness the Nana Mizuki as the first seiyuu to conquer the Oricon weekly charts. This week we have an even more amazing feat where Hokago Teatime 『放課後ティータイム』, the latest K-On! two-CD album became the first anime character CD release to conquer Oricon charts.

Since its debut, the album had sold more than 67,000 copies to top Oricon’s weekly chart. This is a feat that hasn’t be accomplished by any other anime series.

Looks like K-On! is gonna be the most commercially sucessful anime series for 2009.

    moe-shit? or truely a nice anime? i havent watch so no comment. but this is in some way is a good news. it may show that anime gradually being accepted as mainstream entertainment ^^

      IMO K-ON! I don’t really think its anygood. its just a show about girls.In highschool. Frolicking a lot. No fanservice just a really slashyish backstory about a group of girls in a band. I think it just hits really well with the ROCKBAND craze. But nevertheless at least anime/soundtracks is getting a better view now.

    I think the simplicity of the storyline in k-on could be the driving factor to its success since anime with fan service are more or so too common already.
