Marvel X Madhouse: Iron Man and Wolverine Anime Adaptations
We always see news of Japanese anime/manga being adapted by Hollywood for live-action movies. But this time round, Marvel has gotten Madhouse Studios to jointly reproduce an anime movie for American Superheroes – Ironman and Wolverine.

I thought that the Iron Man anime looked really good but somehow since its based on an American concept, it still doesn’t feel quite similar to the anime we get from Japan.

I thought that the Ironman anime looked more like an animated comic book, the style certainly borrows heavily from it. Another major thing is the music used – it doesn’t have that same zing as anime music.
Also, both use highly detailed animation, quite unlike typical anime.
It’s different, for certain, but that doesn’t necessarily mean it’s bad. Might take some getting used to. ^^;
im afraid ur mistaken about quality, the quality in those 2 trailers was really bad, they used optical trickery to make still images look liek they were moving along with simple movements and image blurring, typical cheap techniques……sort of like the american TV “anime-esque” cartoons of today…..
Iron Man looks great. Just as expected of Madhouse. The armor fiddling stuff at the beginning was kind of blah (can’t match the real 3D stuff), but overall pretty cool. The high contrast style looks good too. I’ve never been a fan of Iron Man, but I’ll have to check it out.
But what were they thinking with Wolverine? The style looks ugly, animation is lazy, and why is it jammed with all these clichéd Japanese motifs? Cherry blossoms, sliding paper doors, traditional instruments, a brief flash of Wolverine holding a katana (why?), ninjas, temple guardians… Is this really Wolverine?
The Iron Man trailer suggests an anime made entirely of dynamic face shots at epic angles for Iron Man and Wolverine was pretty much Ninja Gaiden in my opinion so no problems there. Any dates for when these come out?
@Stele007: I thought there was a whole story about Wolverine in japan anyway which would explain why he was in japan for this show but america take anime set in tokyo and puts it in new york so its about time the tables got turned for once lol.
@ stele007, ninja doesnt have a plural, its 1 ninja, many ninja =P, anyways he does go to japan, so…..its ok for story…
this isnt the first run in with marvel and japan, what with the hilarious spider man live action TV show, the tons of manga adaptions of spiderman, xmen, etc etc plus stan lee wrote a script for a mange too! how awesome! what happened to it? who knows….
iron man looked watchable but wolverine looks stupid, didnt look a thing like him, atleast iron man had his armour (wish he looked more like guyver or karas tbh….)
