While out printing my new name cards on Saturaday, I passed by Kinokuniya Bookstore and spotted the lovely limited edition Vol 3 of Haruhi-chan on their display shelves.
So I ran in and brought the cho kawaii Nagato Yuki from the anime/manga series of Haruhi-chan home. Seems like Nendoroid Rin is delighted to see her new sister.
It was quite a hilarious process because I walked around the manga section for about 5 minutes and couldn’t find the box. So I decided to take the box that was on display while people from outside the window was staring at me.
Not sure what they did with that empty spot after that, I should have taken a shot of the display shelve when I leave the bookstore =P

lol, taken from display shelf, u evil u =P
The rest of the stock were either reserved or returned to the publisher I think. that’s why u don’t see em on the shelves
It was a desperate measure. Luckily most otaku folks were either at Cosfest or Daicon, so there wasn’t much people in Kinokuniya that day.
haha, yea those occurrences feel pretty awkward. I remember grabbing the last box of Lucky Charms at a store, and a small child was staring at me with that “aw shucks!
” face. I felt sad so I said “Oh, I was just looking”. When I placed the box back, he immediately grabbed it and ran off. Kid’s need their Lucky Charms I guess =3 just like you needed that Nendoroid! Think of the children! =D
LOL you were really nice. If I was you I would have laugh at the kid before going to pay for it at the cashier =P
Taking from the display is the ultimate move lol!
You should have left a proxy behind or a piece of paper saying:
“Nagato w/ bunny ears was here =3″, then take a pic of it. It would be hilarious ^^
Yeah I only thought of that when I reached home.
Thanks for the wonderful tip!
I ran down to the Kinokuniya Bookstore here in Costa Mesa after reading this article and picked up the last of the three they had ordered for their store. There’s a big gap in their new releases display now.
LOL good job!
Oeh yay lucky you! good and quick thinking otaku soldier!
Of course, I’m well trained to even neutralize any competing otaku if there was only a single figure left on the shelf.
