Nintendo Wii Lets You Skip Challenging Scenes

Have you ever played a game when you encounter a particularly challenging scene, and you had to repeat the encounter for like 10 times before you could move onto to the next stage? Well soon this will be a thing of the past for Nintendo Wii gamers.

According to a report by Ninhon Keizai Shimbun [日本経済新聞], Nintendo will soon introduce a scene skipping function for their consoles.

This function is to cater for those casual gamers who tend to quit playing the game after encountering a difficult challenging scene. So instead of giving up and never completing the game, the gamer can now simply skip that particular scene.

The function will be introduce for both the Nintendo Wii and Nintendo DS, and the first game with this function will be New Super Mario Brothers Wii 「New スーパーマリオブラザーズ Wii」.

Its quite an interesting function and seems like it would be pretty popular among casual gamers and younger kids. Of course, I’m a veteran gamer so  I wouldn’t need such a function =P

They seem determined to bash the final nail into the Wii’s coffin. Skipping the difficult parts? Why buy the game in the first place?!?!?!

i get the feeling something is wrong here, are u certain that they are implementing this into their games completely? doesnt seem like it to me, if they did it would be a downloadable interface to give the gamers the option to have it….. to simple put it into every game sounds like a bit of a missunderstanding to me.

i will have to see the whole article to say wether or not this is true, i reckon they might have put it in to mario to make it easier but how they gonna convince third party devs to do it?

~black wii is so fucken sexy~…..white ps3 kicks its butt though (y/n)

Its something weird to buy a game just to skip half of it or more just beacause you are lazy and wont make the effort to finish the hard parts, even when sometimes its anoying to play after being beaten 30 times by the same enemy or challenge when the time comes youll be way better. Anyway let them kill his own gaming console

But wouldn’t it be even a larger waste if someone buys the game and never completes it because the challenges are simply too difficult.

      • Dee says:

good point alafista, there are times when i couldnt do something and gave up on the game completely, not for a long while though, now im older, i just level up/try harder and prevail….i guess this is something for younger gamers, could be a smart move by nintendo to secure young gamers for future nintendo elitist adults!! =OOOO

    WTH… ><

I believe very strongly that video games that don't challenge you in some way aren't fun at all…

Anyways, it's the game makers fault if they design a game too difficult for the big majority of gamers.

Besides, don't games get harder as they go along, like a learning curve? It'd be weird if someone could beat the final boss but not something in the middle of the game…o.0
