High Tech Sushi Conveyor Belt

Have you ever ate at a sushi bar with a conveyor belt? Sometimes you just don’t know how long the sushi has been on that belt. That wouldn’t happen if you visited this high-tech sushi bar.

The video features how the resturauant deals with “old sushi”. Each plate is being track by the chip attached and sushi that has been on the conveyor belt for 30 minutes will be disposed.

I thought it was really wasteful to throw away sushi just after 30 minutes. I would be glad to sit at the end of the belt and collect all those yummy sushi.

Haha I’ve been watching that exact same one yesterday, cool to see how it works.

Ahhh what a waste of food!

  4. Snark says:

Well, given how most sushi is raw food, I can sorta see why they’d want to throw it away after 30 mins

But yeah, I kinda prefer the more traditional sushi restaurants where you tell the chef what you want anyway ^^

Here’s an alternative: discount the old sushi after 20 min. Those who care for super fresh pay full price. Those who don’t care as much pay less and the restaurant still moves the fish. After 30 min dispose of it regardless.

This restaurant is high tech and efficient, but I prefer having my food served. Interacting or with a wait person is an important part of dining experience for me. If no social experience is involved, I would probably eat at home.
