Man Assaulted Prison Guards Immediately Upon Release
You would think that on the day of release from prison, any prison would be so happy they would give the prison guard a big hug. This 50-year-old man instead punched three prison guards as he was being escorted out of Kurobane Prison in Otawara City, where he had just finished serving his one-year prison term. Of course, he was then arrested for assaulting the prison officers.
Police said Teruhisa Fukushima, an unemployed man of no fixed address, was sentenced to one year in prison after being found guilty of theft last year.
When prison officials returned his possessions and finalized his release at around 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Fukushima claimed they hadn’t returned his nails he cut while in prison.
A third guard was asked to assist two other guards in escorting Fukushima out of the prison grounds, and on the way out, Fukushima demanded they return his nails and started attacking the guards. They detained him until police arrived who arrested him for assault.
The prison officials were puzzled by Teruhisa’s behavior because he was reportedly well-behaved during his prison term, one official commented:
“I’ve never heard of someone starting a fight on their release”.

This guy must have some unhealthy fetish to beat up the prison guards over nail clippings.
But I’m guessing that he probably had nowhere to go after release, so he was just finding am easy way back into prison where there’s food and shelter.

It sounds like he may be mentally ill or as someone else said have nowhere to go. Very sad considering how badly prisoners are treated in prisons in Japan. As for the comment about the free food – what a laugh! I don’t think the prisoners are provided with enough food at all, that’s why they come out looking so emaciated! The prison system in Japan is very cruel historically and even to this day. I pity anyone who has nowhere better to go!
