Morning Yum Cha With Rin Kokonoe

Away a hectic week of working in the office, I always enjoy going out to town on the weekends to have some yummy food. This morning I headed to one of the more famous Red Star Restaurant for morning Yum Cha.

Dim Sum With Rin Kokonoe

Here’s the definition of Yum Cha taken off wikipedia:

Yum cha (飲茶) is a term in Cantonese which means “drinking tea”. It now refers to the dining experience of eating small servings of different foods, e.g., dim sum. It is an integral part of the culinary culture of Guangdong Province, Hong Kong and Macau.

In any city with a sizeable population of Cantonese people, yum cha is a tradition on weekend mornings, and whole families gather to chat and eat dim sum and drink Chinese tea. The tea is important, for it is said to help digest the rich foods.

Personally, I just went there for the atmosphere. The food wasn’t that good compared to other places I’ve been. I love the atmosphere of old traditional eating places, and this one had ladies moving around with push carts loaded with food. They would pass by your table and you just order what is available.
