Over the past few week, SMAP’s Tsuyoshi Kusanagi has been under pressure for his arrest over indecency, and he has since refrained from any entertainment activities. Thankfully, the Tokyo prosecutors have announced that they will not be pressing chages to indict Kusanagi because he showed regret and has already incurred social sanctions.
The 34-year-old member of popular music group SMAP was arrested naked and drunk in a central Tokyo park at around 3 a.m. on April 23 and was sent to the prosecutors and released the following day.
Appearing in a packed press conference April 24 hours after his release from detention, Kusanagi apologized to his fans in Japan and other parts of Asia and said he does not know when he can resume his activities as a celebrity.
