Next time you pass by the koban in Tokyo, you might want to take a peek inside because there might be a cute female police officer stationed inside. The Metropolitan Police Department has announced that they will begin deployment of 20 female officers at 10 different koban, including those near JR Ikebukuro Station and a marine park in Daiba, Minato Ward.

Why did it take so long for Tokyo police to introduce female police to the koban when other prefectural police department had already deployed them?

The Tokyo police had avoided stationing female officers at koban, except during the day, as they would be exposed to risks of becoming crime victims given that many koban in Tokyo are located in entertainment and other crowded districts.

If you are wondering how many female police officers are there? There is 2,360 cute female officers, which makes up for about 5% of the total police force.

I think it is a good move. That would definitely encourage me to co-operate with the police. In fact, if the officer was really cute, I might just drop by every other day to ensure that she is safe in her koban. ^^
